Drivers will benefit from safer and smoother drives following resurfacing work on around 10 miles of the A5 in Shrewsbury.
This essential work to resurface both carriageways and all roundabouts between the A5 Dobbies Roundabout and Montford Bridge will start on 20 July and is planned to be completed by November 2015. Road markings will also be renewed and new reflective road studs will be installed at the same time.
Deborah Makinde, Route Sponsor at Highways England, said: “Once we’ve completed this work, drivers will be able to experience much smoother drives on this busy section of road, improving their driving experience well into the future and ensuring safer and more reliable journeys.
“We understand that there has been a lot of activity around Shrewsbury recently, but this short-term work will reap long-term benefits for the area.
“We have planned our work to keep disruptions to road users to a minimum, but there will be some night-time diversions. We thank drivers for their patience while we carry out this work.”
All work will take place during the night and has been carefully planned in 15 phases to minimise any disruption that the work may cause.
Diversions will be clearly signposted and more information has been published on the Highways Agency website, including the phases in which the work will be carried out.
The cost of the scheme is £3,250,149.
