Town Crier Martin Wood, himself a family carer, was on hand to help Shropshire Rural Community Council launch national Volunteer Week in The Square at Shrewsbury.

Volunteer Week from 1-7 June recognises the contribution made by millions of unpaid helpers in all aspects of life across the UK, and voluntary groups from across the county arranged stalls showcasing the different volunteering roles on offer.

Clive Leworthy, of Shropshire RCC, said: “We have gathered these voluntary groups together to show people how they can get involved, offering taster sessions, volunteer recruitment events, launching new volunteering campaigns and organising awards ceremonies for volunteers throughout the county.”
