Church Stretton Rail Users Association up in arms over re-timing of 08:07 service

Arriva Train

The Church Stretton Rail Users Association is calling on Arriva Trains Wales to show concern for its passengers and abandon the re-timing of the 08:07 service from Church Stretton to Shrewsbury.

The association is up in arms about the refusal of Arriva Trains Wales to amend its new timetable, due to start in May, despite widespread objections.

The 08:07 train, which local school students use to go to Shrewsbury, is to leave 25 minutes earlier, leaving students in Shrewsbury before 8am.

Complaints have been logged with both Arriva Trains Wales and to Shropshire Council, the association recently met with representatives of Arriva Trains Wales who said that there is no chance of amending the timetable before November.

Press Officer Gay Walker said:

“This change was made without adequate prior consultation, and despite representations both from the Association and from local councillors and MPs Arriva seems determined to ignore the needs and wishes of Shropshire residents. We call on Arriva to abandon this timetable change and to start listening to its passengers and rail user groups and not implement changes that so obviously punish those of us who use the 08:07 service.”
