Church Stretton rail users in dismay over proposed schedule change

Arriva Train

A proposal to change the time of the popular weekday 08.07am Church Stretton to Shrewsbury train has been met with a mixture of dismay and disbelief.

Frequent rail users say the morning train time change to some 25 minutes earlier on Mondays to Fridays will be a disaster when it comes into force this May.

Commenting on the proposed change, Gay Walker of the Church Stretton Rail Users Association said:

“We would like to know what prior consultation took place between Arriva and Shropshire Council about these proposals and what was the outcome of these consultations. Also, since the train is used extensively by school children, what prior advice was given to the educational authorities in Shrewsbury, bearing in mind that these changes, if implemented, would take effect in the middle of the summer term?”

Church Stretton Rail Users Association say they will be contacting Arriva Trains Wales to make a formal request to retain the current timings.
