Telford man arrested following football-related disorder in Rhyl

The man and three others who are from the Wrexham area have been released on police bail, pending further enquiries, until Monday, 19 May 2014.

Inspector Mark Jones, of British Transport Police, said: “Officers were called to Rhyl railway station at 6.45pm on Saturday following reports of a confrontation between football supporters.

“The disturbance took place on board a Holyhead to Shrewsbury service, which was stationary at Rhyl station at the time.

“Although four arrests have been made in connection with the incident, our investigation is ongoing and I would like to appeal to anyone who may have been either at the station or on the train to contact us. You may have seen or heard something that could prove vital to this investigation.

“This must have been an intimidating environment for other passengers on board the train and on the platform at Rhyl,” added Insp Jones.

“We do not tolerate anti-social and violent behaviour like this and we will be continuing our enquiries, including viewing any available CCTV and speaking to witnesses.”

Anyone who was at the station or on board the train, and may have witnessed the disorder, is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 quoting background reference WSUB/B7 of 14/04/2014. Information can also be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
