The 28-year-old was arrested following a collision between a train and tractor pulling a trailer at Buttington, near Welshpool on 16 July.
A British Transport Police spokesman said:
“I can confirm that Ifan Gwyn Evans, aged 28, of Llanfihangel, Llanfyllin, Powys, has today been charged with endangering the safety of persons using the railway.

“He is next due to appear at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 26 November.”
Around 200 passengers were on board the 10.08 Birmingham to Aberystwyth Arriva Trains Wales service at the time of the collision.
Two people were understood to have suffered minor injuries.
Services between Shrewsbury and Machynlleth were disrupted following the incident.
