Motorists can expect delays as work takes place at Ketley Interchange J6 and Dawley.
The work will take around 40 weeks, during which time the M54 and local roads will be subject to carriageway or lane closures in different locations and various times, depending on the type of work being carried out.
Highways Agency project manager Colin Jackson said:
“The bridges will be refurbished to ensure they remain in a safe and serviceable condition. The majority of the work will be carried out in daylight hours but some aspects of the scheme, such as the setting out of traffic management and installation of bridge props will be done at night.
“We will do our utmost to complete the works as quickly as possible, avoiding disturbance and keeping noise to a minimum. Once complete, the work will reduce the need for future maintenance on these bridges.”
The A5223 Ketley East bridge will be closed for around eight weeks and the A5223 Ketley West will be closed for about a month. Dawley bridge will be closed for about 12 weeks. There will also be various full and lane closures on the M54 to facilitate the stages involved in the work.
