Comic Relief fun takes place across Shropshire

Students from Walford & North Shropshire College have already had some fun, the Animal Management students at Shipley Campus, Bridgnorth Road dressed up and ran a raffle for Comic Relief, they raised £57.40.

At Sainsbury’s in Shrewsbury staff are dressed as Vegetables or in their pyjamas, a jail has also been created at the front of the store for staff who are not wearing fancy dress. Sainsbury’s Telford are getting in on the fun with staff members wearing super hero’s costumes, an exercise bike will see staff cycling to raise money whilst the store manager is being put into stocks. In Oswestry Sainsbury’s staff are also dressing up for the day and carrying out bag packing for customers in return for a donation.

Shropshire Council staff members are also amongst those carrying out fund-raising activities including cake bake-offs, cake sales, book sales, sponsored walks and more, staff are also at work in fancy dress, or wearing something red, in return for a donation. The Column Restaurant at Shirehall will be joining in the fun by serving up a special red themed menu at lunchtime. The council’s Shirehall HQ in Shrewsbury is also wearing a giant red nose.

In Lightmoor a quiz is taking place to raise money for the Comic Relief charity along with a bake off event.

Tonight BBC One will host an evening of unmissable TV. A star-studded line-up of the nation’s favourite comedians will be doing something funny for money as Red Nose Day celebrates its 25th anniversary with a TV extravaganza.

A stellar line up of presenters – Michael McIntyre, Rob Brydon, John Bishop, Zoe Ball, Lenny Henry, Davina McCall, Jack Whitehall, Nick Grimshaw, Jonathan Ross, Dermot O’Leary, Claudia Winkleman, Alan Carr, David Walliams and Russell Brand – will entertain from start to finish, with original sketches from the stars of the comedy firmament promising to keep the nation roaring with laughter.
