Train travel disrupted as freight train derails near Shrewsbury

One car of the 19 carriage freight train derailed yesterday afternoon, nobody was injured in the incident.

Routes affected include: Cardiff Central, Newport / Birmingham International, Shrewsbury, Gobowen, Chirk, Ruabon, Wrexham General, Chester Llandudno Junction & Holyhead / Yorton, Wem, Prees, Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly.

Trains that are part cancelled or diverted are being replaced by a bus on the cancelled part of the journey. Buses are also replacing trains between Shrewsbury and Chester.
