Train services affected by fallen tree near Codsall

A London Midland train travelling from Birmingham to Hollyhead struck the tree that had fallen onto the track.

Delays of up to 40 minutes between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury are currently being experienced by passengers. The delays are expected to last until approximately 13:30.

High winds are currently battering northern parts of the UK of up to 120mph.

Police are advising people in central and southern Scotland not to travel, as severe winds start to batter the country.

In Shropshire gusts are expected to reach around 60mph later.
