Arriva Trains Wales services cancelled as drivers continue with pay and conditions dispute

The 24hr overtime ban follows a 48hr walkout last Sunday and Monday. Aslef, the train driver’s trade union is continuing a dispute with Arriva Trains Wales over pay. The union has accused the company of paying Welsh drivers less than their English counterparts.

Arriva Trains Wales says they offered a 12% pay increase over 2 years, but that the union disputed the figure. The deal would mean that train drivers’ basic salaries would rise to £39,117.

Arriva are offering limited bus services which are being offered on a first-come first-served basis. Customers are being advised to postpone all non-essential travel or travel via other train operators where possible.
