The show takes place on Saturday, May 25th, and anticipation is growing for what is expected to be one of the very best events in the show’s recent history, held at the DMOS People West Mid Showground.

Shropshire County Show is one of the biggest one-day attractions in the region each year and this year once again offers an amazing action-packed day out with something to cater for all tastes and ages.

Phil Thornycroft, Shropshire County Show Chair for 2024, said: “The final pieces are being put in place, and the countdown is now gathering pace to what should be another cracking show. The only thing we can’t organise is the weather, but we are well prepared, and it is set to be an unforgettable day.

“It is worth reminding people that our early-bird ticket offers provide significant savings when purchased online and also means quicker access to the showground on the day. Another great benefit of the show is that those 15 and under are admitted free.

“Attractions in the Main Arena run from 10am until 5pm, and in the Countryside Arena, which is making a return this year, from 10am until 4.30pm. Countryside Arena entertainment includes the Welsh Axemen, Shropshire Falconry display, FerretWorld Roadshow and the Meirion Owen Quack Pack.

“Main arena highlights include the Paul Hannam Quad Bike Stunt Show, Atkinson Action Horses, Shropshire Young Farmers’ Clubs Active Competition, a ‘new for 2024’ Agricultural Vehicle Parade, Livestock Grand Parade, Shropshire Young Farmers’ Clubs Float Parade and the Vintage Vehicle Parade.

“In addition to the main ring attractions, the Shropshire Live Village Stage will provide a variety of music between 10am and 4.30pm, including the Wrekin Jazz Band, Shrewsbury Male Voice Choir, Second Wind, Wirral Pipe Band, and there are performances this year from the Shrewsbury Morris in the Village Green area.”

Mr Thornycroft said the show will also feature a Lancaster bomber flypast, the always popular livestock classes, equestrian events and a dog show starting at midday, which visitors can enter on the day.

He added: “Our Youth Zone is one of the biggest attractions every year and this year’s programme includes: Nerf Gun Maze and giant inflatable assault course, Last Man Standing – an inflatable challenge with a swinging arm, donkey rides, Roar Martial Arts Fitness, a funfair, mountain biking, various attractions provided by the Army.

“In addition, the Village Green, aimed at younger children, will have a sandpit, story time with Kath Saunders from Usborne Books and Rebecca from Fabulous Faces, who will be transforming our younger visitors into butterflies or superheroes.”
