Enjoy the Autumn sunshine on the Dudmaston Estate

Sunlight and shadows bathe the East Front of Dudmaston Hall as the evening sun sets.

The property is encouraging everyone to get out and about this Autumn and take in the fantastic colours that this season brings. Visitors to the property will be encouraged to take the Dingle and Big Pool Walk, comparing the views sketched by Elizabeth Shepherd with what they see today and consider whether they believe the views have changed.

As well challenging everyone to get involved with their annual 5k and 10k fun runs, a series of walks has been launched in conjunction with the National Trust’s Great British Walk campaign; which will give walkers the opportunity to discover the best views on the estate; how to live off the land; and all about the property’s trees. Walk trails will also be available for download from the property’s website for everyone to enjoy.

Beginning on 10 September visitors can join the property’s volunteer photographer, Matthew Purchase, on a photo walk where tips and hints on the best locations for photographs will be given. It is hoped; that this will give those people who wanted to enter the property’s photo competition (which closes on 30 September) but were unsure, a little more confidence with their entry.

The programme of events continues with the Hare and Tortoise 5k and 10k fun runs taking place on Sunday, 14 September at Heath Farm.

Property Administrator, Nikki Hook said:

“The fun runs are a popular event at Dudmaston and this year we are encouraging people who would like to take part, but are not keen runners, to join us in the 5k, which can be walked, to give everyone the opportunity of getting involved. All competitors will be rewarded with medals and certificates to recognise their efforts and there will be prizes for the first man and woman home in each race. Entry forms can now be downloaded from our website giving those who register in advance the opportunity to save some money.”

“The Great British Walk provides us with the perfect opportunity for everyone to enjoy and learn more about our wonderful estate whilst, we hope picking up new skills. All the walks are free and begin at Visitor Reception but we do need people to book places in advance. This can be done either by visiting the property, by calling us on (01746) 780838 or by emailing nicola.hook@nationaltrust.org.uk
