Grainger & Worrall Ltd, a world-leading manufacturer of complex aluminium castings, has proudly been presented with the King’s Award for Innovation 2024, marking the fourth time the company has secured the UK’s most prestigious business accolade.

The formal presentation of the award was conducted by the Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire, Mrs Anna Turner, during a visit to the firm’s headquarters in Bridgnorth.
The King’s Award for Innovation acknowledges Grainger & Worrall’s pioneering work in prototype gigacastings—a groundbreaking technology that is fundamentally reshaping casting design and manufacturing on a global scale, particularly within the automotive and electric vehicle sectors.
During the visit, the Lord-Lieutenant toured the state-of-the-art facilities and met with dedicated employees before formally presenting the honour on behalf of His Majesty The King.
Duncan Eldridge, Chief Executive Officer of Grainger & Worrall, commented on the significance of the achievement:
“It was a delight and honour to welcome the Lord-Lieutenant to our facility to present the award and meet dedicated members of our team who make innovation happen. It gave us an opportunity to share the celebration with a large proportion of our workforce.”
Mr Eldridge highlighted that the award is a testament to the team’s expertise. “This King’s Award reflects the creativity and expertise of our talented team, who are relentlessly striving to push the boundaries of what is possible in aluminium casting technology,” he said.
He further emphasised that the development of prototype gigacastings is not only a crucial response to evolving industry needs but also represents the company’s commitment to sustainability.
The King’s Award for Enterprise (formerly the Queen’s Award) is widely regarded as the UK’s highest corporate recognition, celebrating outstanding achievement in innovation, international trade, sustainable development, and promoting opportunity.
Winning a fourth award places the Shropshire-based firm in an elite group of British businesses. Grainger & Worrall continues to play a vital role in supporting industries including automotive, motorsport, defence, aerospace, and marine, combining cutting-edge innovation with a proud heritage of British manufacturing.
