Two Shropshire charities will have an “eggstra” special Easter this year thanks to the efforts of a local firm of chartered accountants.
The team at Dyke Yaxley, in Shrewsbury, chooses two causes every year as their nominated charities and this year they’re supporting the Harry Johnson Trust and the Shropshire branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
And as one of their final campaigns for the current year, they have just raffled off a giant Easter egg which was donated by Magna Confectionery in Telford. The winner was Anthony Chesworth of Insurethat (previously Satellite4you).
Jackie Young, who co-ordinates the fund raising efforts at the company’s head office in Old Potts Way, said the raffle had been an extremely popular way to round off the year’s charity efforts.
“We’re very grateful to Magna for the giant egg they donated, and also to colleagues and clients who so generously supported the raffle which has brought in another £150 for our charity funds.
“It’s a proud tradition here at Dyke Yaxley that every year we choose two charities and then work as hard as we can for the whole 12 months raising as much cash as we can to support them.
“We’ll soon be totalling up how much we’ve raised this year, and the money will then be split equally between our two chosen causes.”
In the last 12 months, the Dyke Yaxley team has taken part in a whole host of activities including: a World Cup sweep; charity car wash; charity netball match (girls v boys!); completing the Chester Marathon; raffles; a Christmas card message board; cake sale; and a Grand National sweep.
They have previously supported a wide range of charities including the Shrewsbury and District Branch of the Parkinsons Disease Society UK, and Autism West Midlands.
