Shropshire businesses trained 85 people a month in vital first aid skills with St John Ambulance in 2014.
That’s according to training course figures just released by the leading first aid charity.
St John Ambulance, which raises funds for its charity work by providing commercial workplace first aid training, trained 1022 people over the course of a year, an increase of 46 on 2013.
John Cavanagh, Director of Workplace Training from St John Ambulance, said:
“We are pleased that these figures have shown a rise and that businesses are committed to the quality training that St John Ambulance provides. We know from experience that many people who, sometimes unwillingly, go on a first aid course for their workplace, end up using their skills in the homes and communities to save lives.
“We would of course like to see even more businesses stepping forward and training their staff this year. First aid emergencies can happen at any time.”
Figures are up across the whole West Midlands as well. The region saw 345 first aiders trained by businesses across the region every week. A total of 17,986 people were trained last year – a rise of 658 on the previous year.
