Charles Gunter is the latest new face to join the growing team at Henshalls in Newport, and he brings with him a whole raft of knowledge and expertise.
“Safety has been a big part of my work life since joining the RAF 47 years ago and working with military aircraft,” said Charles. “I also spent 20 years in the fire service across the West Midlands and Shropshire, and have worked as both a consultant and trainer in health and safety.
“Joining Henshalls is a wonderful opportunity and I’m really looking forward to meeting clients and helping them to ensure their working environments are safe.”
Charles is a chartered member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health and a corporate member of the Institution of Fire Engineers.
He is a NEBOSH accredited trainer in occupational health and safety, fire safety and risk management, environmental management, construction, and health and safety at work, and is qualified in a wide range of topics.
Tony Conlon, who set up the health and safety team at Henshalls, said Charles would bring a wealth of knowledge to the business.
“We’re particularly looking forward to working with Charles to learn from his past experience and he’s already sharing invaluable advice with other colleagues in the team. We’re sure his many years in the industry will be a great asset when it comes to helping our clients improve the health and safety of their workforce.”
Henshalls launched its health and safety service as a direct result of customer demand, and is believed to be the only broker in the local small and medium-sized business market to have its own in-house consultancy. Since its launch, the division has gone from strength to strength and now gives regular expert advice to over 50 clients.
As well as assessing health and safety risks for local companies, Charles – who is also a former lecturer at Telford College of Arts and Technology – will deliver advice on how to handle any issues in the workplace, and staff training tailored to the needs of each individual business.
