Organisers have drafted in the help of a Telford company to put the final preparations in place as thousands of model aircraft enthusiasts are expected to attend the weekend-long show 13 – 15 June.
Model Air Show organiser Steve Bishop, of Bishop Aviation, called on Duncan Richards, the owner of Madeley-based Mobile Service Experts for help to make sure everything is ready on time.
Mr Bishop said: “In the few days leading up to the event there is so much to do and the site at Weston Park is a pretty big area to cover to make sure everything is in place.
“What we needed was a small runabout vehicle to get from one end of the site to the other to make sure everything is good to go whether it be setting up banners, putting up signs, marquees or the million and one other things that need doing.
“Mobile Service Experts have a little Smart car which they mainly take out on the road to promote the business.
“When we saw this we thought it would be the ideal vehicle to help us with the preparations and we were delighted when Duncan agreed to lend it to us for the show.
“As well as using it in the days leading up to the event Duncan has also agreed that we can use it throughout the show to transport professional flyers around the showground.
“We are expecting flyers from all over the UK, Europe and the US at this year’s show so we are very grateful to Duncan for supporting the event.”
Mr Richards, who set up his mobile service and repair business last summer, said he was thrilled to have been approached by the organisers of the show and was more than pleased to help out.
“Events such as these help boost local businesses by attracting huge crowds to the area from all over the UK and further afield,” he said.
“I’m delighted to be able to help organisers in their final preparations and during the show.
“The Smart car is a really efficient little car which doesn’t cost much too run so will be perfect for nipping around at the showground.”
There is a packed programme of events lined up for the air show including the famous Reds with their model Hawks which will be flying some of the moves performed by the RAF Red Arrows, children’s entertainment, craft fair, trade stalls and lots of model aircrafts.
