Shrewsbury-based 7 Energy is exhibiting at at National Organic Cereals 2013, which is being held near Shifnal, on July 2 and being compared by Charlotte Smith, the presenter of BBC Radio 4′s Farming Today.

Now in its sixth year, the event attracts farmers, academics and representatives of key supporting industries to hear presentations, take part in Q&A sessions and view the results of extensive trial crop planting during a farm walk.

Managing Director at 7 Energy, Martin Dowley, said he was looking forward to meeting with farmers at the event and showcasing the company’s renewable energy technologies, which include the world-class range of OkoFEN wood pellet boilers.

He explained: “We created and installed Shropshire’s single renewable energy project, which was a ground-mounted solar PV system at a poultry farm near Ludlow. Farmers and landowners stand much to gain from renewable technologies, with large roof spaces and large buildings which require high energy usage.

“The Ludlow project was part of a two-site £1.2m installation, and included a roof mounted system at Presteigne, Powys. Based on recent readings, the system has reduced electricity usage at the two sites by 65 per cent. The installation exceeded its predicted energy capture by 10 per cent.”

“I am looking forward to speaking with delegates at National Organic Cereals 2013 about the renewable energy options we offer and the projects we have completed across the region, which are already saving our customers money on their energy bills. Farmers and landowners are always concerned about high energy costs and how they can reduce them and they generally have the space available to them to implement really effective schemes.”

National Organic Cereals has been held at farms across England in its six years and is organised on behalf of the sector by Organic Farmers & Growers Ltd, a Shrewsbury-based organic control body which inspects and licenses organic food and farming throughout the UK.
