Midland Computers of Telford is creating bespoke websites, based on any company’s main website, to run specifically on smartphones and tablets.
Sales and development manager Nick Dodd says: “The mobile landscape is still a very grey area for many people and most companies have no idea how much of their business traffic comes from devices such as android phones, tablets and smartphones.
“We are currently customising existing sites into ‘mobile friendly’ versions using modern responsive design techniques.
“These specific mobile apps are clear to use and better fit the shapes and layouts of portable devices, such as iPhones and iPads, while still being based on a company’s main website, thereby retaining corporate identity.â€
The first customer to take up the new scheme was Nick Holloway, from the national e-commerce site at PlasticMan based in Walsall, who added: “With over a 1/3 of our traffic now coming from mobile devices we felt it necessary to accommodate these users, our analytics are showing that the average time spent on the site by mobile users is starting to show a big increase since being mobile friendly.â€
