Solar Days Ltd is a joint venture between A Walters Electrical and building contractors MW Knight & Sons, both of which have been trading in Shropshire for over 20 years. Staff from both firms have now been trained and accredited by all the solar industry approved regulators including ELECSA, REAL and REIGA and come together to offer a professional solar panel installation service.
The business has already got off to a flying start, completing large solar panel installations for several local farming clients, and securing the contract for a series of installations on behalf of a local Housing Association.
Director Andy Walters is optimistic about the future, despite recent press reports about reduced Government subsidies for solar panel installations.
“It’s true that the ‘feed in tariff’ subsidies that are paid to households for generating electricity from solar panels has been reduced to 21p per kWh. And the government recently announced they are planning further reductions from July. But this has coincided with a fall of about a third in the price of the panels themselves. This means that householders can still expect a return of around 10% a year on their investment – far better than any bank or building society rate currently on offer – tax-free and guaranteed for 25 years.â€
