The Church Stretton Rail Users Association (CSRUA) has written to HSBC to ask that this branch remains open.
Commenting on the closure decision, Gay Walker of the CSRUA said: “We are a rail user group but also keep a very watchful eye on the town as a whole and its wide range of community facilities.
“The loss of a bank is a blow to our community and reduces the range of what is on offer here and anything that damages our community is a matter for concern and runs the risk of reducing patronage and footfall for other activities including rail journeys. We have written to HSBC and strongly urge them to keep this branch open.”
The CSRUA regards railways and stations as important community assets and the future of Church Stretton and its railway services very much depends on the vitality of the community as a whole especially its range of shops, cafes and banks.
