The Highways Agency is undertaking work to replace drainage and replace safety barriers with a new concrete type. The westbound carriageway will also be resurfaced to reduce traffic noise.
Work will be carried out from 10pm this evening and last through until 26 April 2015.
Overnight closures will take place each night from 10pm to 6am, whilst during the daytime the motorway will be reduced to two narrow lanes from 6am to 8pm. Between 8pm and 10pm only one lane will be in use.
Speed restrictions will also be in place during the works with a 50mph limit eastbound and 40mph westbound, these will be monitored by average speed cameras.
During the closure of the M54, traffic will be diverted off the M54 westbound carriageway at Junction 3. It will be directed north up the A41, then west and south via the A5/A4640 to the M54 at Junction 4. If access to Junction 4 westbound is closed, traffic will be diverted south along the A464 then via the A442 to re-join the M54 at Junction 5.
