The collision involving three cars, one of which overturned, happened between Shrewsbury and Ford.
Two people suffered head injuries in the collision which occurred just before 1.40pm.
The road was closed to traffic between the A5 Churncote Island and Welshpool.
Update 16:00: The road is now open to traffic.
