Manx Trophies, based on Stafford Park, has teamed up with Youngstars Academies Telford, to host the Telford World Cup Tournament and family fun day in aid of Stay Telford.

The event will be held on June 14 from 10am at AFC Telford and organisers are calling for businesses across the county to get involved.

Rose Smith, of Manx Trophies, said it is hoped the day will see businesses and families come together for a great cause.

She said: “We wanted to do something to celebrate the World Cup and raise money for a local charity and a five-a-side football tournament with local businesses taking part seemed the perfect idea.

“We are hoping the businesses of Telford and surrounding towns and villages will come and support the event and help raise awareness and funds for Stay Telford.

“We are currently looking for businesses to enter a football team into the tournament and also sponsors for the children’s teams. We hope as many businesses as possible will come along and help us tackle homelessness in Telford and Wrekin.

“We are also looking for children’s entertainers, arts and crafts and others who could have a free pitch and donate a percentage of proceeds to the charity.

“As the event is just a few days after the start of the World Cup we hope everyone will be in an exciting mood and looking forward to a sporting Summer.”

Entry/sponsorship is £40 per five-a-side team or £50, to include a stand at the event. A stand for the full day is £20.

Stay Telford provides housing and support services for young people and families between the ages of 16 and 32 in Telford and Wrekin.

The charity’s aim is to support people through issues in their lives, enable them to gain independence and inspire them to achieve their aspirations.

Any business interested in attending the event with a team or having a stand please contact Rose Smith on (01952) 290959 or email rose@airsystemcontrols.co.uk
