The Institute was founded in 1927 and now has nearly 500 members, providing an educational and social body, while promoting examinations and regular meetings, for general insurance and life insurance professionals from across the region. In addition, the Institute has raised over £10,000 for insurance charities in the last few years.

Retiring president, David Vanner, of Shrewsbury, paid tribute to the success of the Institute over the past year saying: “The group is going from strength to strength and the highlight of the year must surely have been our annual gala dinner, held in the House of Lords in London, and very kindly hosted by our Shrewsbury MP Daniel Kawczynski.

“We raised nearly £1,000 for charity on the night and honoured several of our prominent members, as well as presenting awards to our Young Achievers of the year. Membership of the institute is continually growing and we are delighted to be welcoming more professionals from the financial services industry to our ranks.”

Incoming President Christian McIntosh, of Shrewsbury, added: “I am really excited to be taking over this position as our Institute is currently in exceptionally good health, thanks to the concerted efforts of David and the vital support of the whole committee.

“I am looking forward to the challenge of recruiting many new and youthful professionals from across Shropshire and Mid Wales and to promoting several different events which will create added value for our Members.”
