The portfolio was compiled for last week’s visit to Shropshire by the Chief Executive of UKTI, the Government body responsible for promoting inward investment into the UK. The meeting concluded with a tour of Parliament.
Upon reviewing the opportunities, the delegation expressed interest in a number of the opportunities, and in particular the Flaxmill as a potential project which could attract Chinese investment. The delegation said they would take the portfolio back to China to present the opportunities to investors.
Commenting about the portfolio and visit of the Chinese delegation, Daniel said “Foreign business delegations in Parliament present an excellent opportunity to sell the Shropshire investment portfolio to keen businessmen looking to invest their money in the UK.
“I was therefore delighted to be able to meet the Chinese delegation to show what excellent investment opportunities we have in Shropshire. The growth in the Chinese economy in recent years has created a class of investors searching for interesting and worthwhile projects around the world in which they can play a leading role. They were very impressed by “Invest in Shropshire” portfolio and interested in the opportunities. This however is just one meeting in an ongoing campaign to secure meaningful investment into Shropshire.”
