The motorway will be closed for a week from 1 October so a new road surface and associated markings can be put down on the slip roads at junction 6. The closures will be from 8pm until 6am.
Westbound traffic will be diverted at junction 5 along the B5072 Hall Park Way south, then the B5072 West Central Way, over Old Park Roundabout onto the B5223, right onto the B5223 Whitchurch Drive to re-join M54 Westbound Carriageway at junction 7.
Eastbound traffic will leave the M54 at junction 7, left onto B5061 Holyhead Road, B5061 to Ketley Brook Roundabout, then right onto the B5223 Whitchurch Drive to re-join M54 eastbound at junction 6.
The Highways Agency project sponsor, Purnima Kaul, said:
“The closures are likely to cause some disruption but we are carrying out the work overnight to minimise the impact on road users. We hope the improved, safer road surface will be of benefit to drivers in the long term.”
