Heart of England fine foods (HEFF) is behind the event to be held on June 20 at their headquarters in Battlefield, Shrewsbury.

“This is our local alternative to Ladies Day and we expect it will be just as enjoyable as actually going to the races at Ascot,” explained Lynn Wood, marketing executive of HEFF.

The day will start with a workshop run by Shropshire milliner Helen Richardson when guests will make their own fascinator and then wear their creations and enjoy a glass of sparkling English wine.

Lunch will include a platter of local cheeses or seafood followed by strawberries and cream. Guests will then study the form and watch the first race at the Ascot meet, with a chance to win a local food hamper in a sweepstake.

The event will conclude with a cookery demonstration in the kitchen at the food centre, followed by a traditional afternoon tea.

Lynn commented: “It will be a really enjoyable day and we expect it to be popular with groups of friends or colleagues who want to treat themselves and of course they will all go home with their own fascinator.”

The day costs £50 per person and can be booked through the Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre on 01743 452818.
