Chief executive of Shropshire RCC Julia Baron said: “We are delighted to take an important role in the Cheaper Energy Together scheme launched this week to encourage households to register for cheaper gas and electricity tariffs.”
“It’s simple, by combining our purchasing power as a community in Shropshire, we can negotiate cheaper energy costs which will be offered to all those interested in the energy switch, with particular focus on those households in fuel poverty or fuel debt” added Mrs Baron.

The community switching scheme is open to all households. Registration is free and without obligation. An auction will be held in March to see which energy suppliers can offer the best energy tariffs for subscribers in Shropshire.
Shropshire RCC already operates a popular community buying scheme for heating oil and is one of 30 not for profit partner organisations participating in the Cheaper Energy Together initiative.
