Police appeal after cyclist seriously injured near Marshbrook

Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was seriously injured near Marshbrook on Friday.

The incident happened at around midday on the B4370 between Marshbrook and Whittingslow.

A man in his 70s was found to have fallen off his bicycle and suffered a serious head injury.

Police say he was travelling downhill, eastwards towards the level crossing at Marshbrook, approximately one mile from the crossing.

Passers-by gave first aid until police and ambulance arrived and he was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

Investigating officers say that no vehicles were identified as being involved and the man’s bicycle did not show damage consistent with a vehicle collision.
