
Look out for great Comedy and Cabaret acts as part of Ludlow Fringe. The Fringe’s big idea has been to create many free and family-friendly experiences around the town centre with ticket prices kept low and most events either FREE or under a fiver. There’s also a new Poetry Competition judged by Helen Ivory (closing date 31 May) and a lively Poetry Competition for children on the theme of ‘Poetry is Pants!’.
Ludlow Fringe is proud to present a bumper set of comedy nights on Monday 24th, Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th June, where you can get a taste of August’s Edinburgh Fringe early. See Lucy Porter, Alfie Moore and Gary Delaney for either £8 each or an amazing £20 for all three shows, which will all be staged in The Victory Club (British Legion), Mill Street, Ludlow.
Also making a special appearance for Ludlow Fringe on Saturday 22 June is burlesque cabaret ‘La Bordello Boheme and the Seven Deadly Sins’. This internationally renowned act will showcase some of the World’s greatest Cabaret, Circus, Variety and Burlesque talent, fresh from sell-out shows in New York and Edinburgh. Come and enjoy an evening of fabulous entertainment at Ludlow Assembly Rooms as La Bordello Boheme create a night of decadent and saucy acts based on the seven deadly sins.
Local lad and jazz phenomenon Liam Dunachie returns to his home town on Friday 28 June with his group, to play a range of jazz and great American songbook standards, featuring contemporary takes on classic tunes by composers such as Cole Porter, Miles Davis, George Gershwin and Charlie Parker. Liam plays Ludlow Brewery, tickets £10.
And on Saturday 29 June jazz singer Sarah Moule will celebrate the femme fatale in all her feisty glory, in a new show which conjures up a smoky nightclub in Ludlow Brewery. Tickets are £10.
Sunday 23 June offers a special mix of instrumental skill, exquisite vocal harmony and fascinating historical anecdote from accomplished singers and musicians Fleurs de Lys, in The Methodist Church, Broad Street, Ludlow at 2pm. Find joyful, mesmeric dance music, played on a variety of instruments (including mediaeval fiddle, harp, hurdy-gurdy, English bagpipes, recorder and percussion) sharpened by poignant and ethereal songs of love and longing; devotion and duty; jealousy and rivalry and a little bit of triumphal pageantry. Tickets are £10.
Ludlow Fringe Poetry Competition is part of the Poetry Party weekend on 21st to 23rd June in the Ludlow Mascall Centre. Internationally renowned poet Helen Ivory has generously agreed to judge and the theme is ‘The Longest Day’. And there’s a quirky children’s Poetry Competition judged by poet Angela Topping, with the theme ‘Poetry is Pants!’.
