Ludlow Fringe looks for volunteers with specific skills

Anita Bigsby - Fringe Coordinator

With a whole range of arts, entertainments and events to complement the new Arts Festival, Ludlow Fringe aims to have the whole of Ludlow buzzing throughout the last week of June. However – the Fringe is wholly volunteer-run, and Anita Bigsby, local artist, project organiser and co-ordinator of this year’s Fringe is looking for some volunteers with particular skills.

Anita said: “The reaction to Ludlow Fringe has been fantastic and we have lots of amazing people working on this year’s line-up – but we have a few key roles that we would love to fill. We hope find a volunteer in the Ludlow area who has strong admin skills and another volunteer with a good head for figures. Our team is brilliant and we’ve already achieved so much but we’re keen to get more people involved behind the scenes at Ludlow Fringe Festival, particularly in these two key roles.”

She added: “All of us working on the Fringe Festival are volunteers, I’m afraid we can’t offer a regular salary but can offer plentiful supplies of tea and coffee and cake – and a great experience! We’ve already got funding from Shropshire Council and Ludlow Town Council and are keen to expand and continue the Fringe Festival in the years to come so this really could be the start of something big and fantastic in the town. We’re a friendly bunch and we’d love to hear from you!”

Highlights from this year’s Fringe line-up include: a set of three fantastic comedy nights with Lucy Porter, Alfie Moore and Joe Lycett; jazz from rising star and local lad Liam Dunachie; Sarah Moule’s Femme Fatales night of jazz and song; cabaret with the internationally renowned La Bordello Boheme; the Poetry Party, a weekend of top poetry, workshops and more; legendary rocker Steve Gibbons singing the songs of Bob Dylan; and the Big Lit Weekend, a celebration of writing, writers and books.
