A sparkling Christmas and New Year at Hencote

Set against the backdrop of the South Shropshire hills, The View at Hencote, Shrewsbury feels like a living postcard.

The 180-degree glass-fronted restaurant, bar and balcony offer guests stunning panoramic views of the Welsh Hills in the West to the Wrekin in the East, with Shrewsbury town centre nestled in the midst.

The venue is the perfect place to raise a glass of ‘Hencote Estate Evolution’ sparkling wine and toast Christmas and New Year. Since founding Hencote the goal of the Stevens family has evolved from producing the best wine Shropshire can offer to encompass the very best of English hospitality – an amazing journey from the small vineyard planted back in 2009.

Authentic local wine

Hencote owner Andy Stevens said: “The family have built the business around a strong ethos and values; to create authentic wines of the highest quality that reflects our locality and provenance in the Shropshire Hills.

“The greatest care and practice is taken over each vine to ensure our wine is a true reflection of Shrewsbury and the surrounding area.

“This, coupled with our dedication to using the best local produce in our restaurant, great hospitality in our accommodation and an exquisite setting creates a truly authentic experience.”

Christmas at Hencote

This Christmas Hencote is offering a three-course, ‘banquet-style’ menu (£35) with all dishes presented at the table for you to enjoy at your leisure.

You can choose from locally sourced turkey, pork loin or beef rump – but beautifully executed, with more complex seasonal accompaniments (kohlrabi, celeriac & apple salad, or candied beetroot, pear & goats’ cheese) on offer.

Hencote will be offering festive party nights on December 13 & 20, offering a banquet of dishes from the charcoal grill and kitchen, with live music and dancing, a Christmas photo booth and estate wines (£65pp). There’s a full menu on offer for Christmas Day and special glamping packages for overnight stays.

Early Booking Offer: Reserve either the Festive Fayre menus, or either of the Christmas party nights before November 22nd and you will receive an extra space FREE on bookings of ten or more guests!

For New Year’s Eve, The View at Hencote will bring back the roaring twenties as they host their Great Gatsby Gala (£120pp). The evening will feature a delicious three-course banquet, live music and dancing as well as fireworks and a caricaturist.

Hencote general manager Mark Stevens said: “It has been a fantastic year for everyone associated with Hencote and we can’t wait to see the New Year in with friends, family and all our guests.”

The Christmas menu is priced at £35, available from November 29 (Wednesday – Friday lunch). Minimum of four people per booking. Wine pairings are available. www.hencote.comenquiries@hencote.com – (01743) 298444
