Purition manufactures a range of superfood blends, shakes and smoothies, all using 100% natural ingredients.

Established in the summer of 2012, the company was originally based at Harper Adams University Regional Food Academy, although its origins can be found on the other side of the world in Australia.

Best friends Louise Taylor and Phillipa Garner, the brains behind Purition, shared a desire to achieve improved body shape, whilst maintaining optimal health and fitness. During a holiday to Australia, Phillipa discovered a natural nutritional product that became the basis for the Purition range of products that they commenced sample production of in January 2013. This was followed by a launch to the trade in April of this year.

It soon became apparent, however, that the facilities at Harper Adams were not large enough to accommodate the quantities of product that Purition needed to produce and ship, in order to keep up with demand, so the team decided to look for new premises.

Managing Director, and husband to Louise, Edward Taylor explains: “Having spent a number of months and many sleepless nights working hard with the original manufacturers in Australia to make our range of products suitable for the European market, we were delighted with how well received Purition was here in the UK. We soon realised though that if we wanted to capitalise upon this initial interest, we needed to move to larger premises which would allow us the capacity to grow the business in line with demand.

“We live in Shrewsbury so the Food Enterprise Centre was already a very attractive location for us, but added to this, the fact that the facilities are food-grade ready, and the centre already housed like-minded quality food producers, convinced us that we’d found the right place to relocate to.”

The move to the Food Enterprise Centre is enabling Purition to keep up with the ever increasing pace of online sales, as well as retail interest that has already seen it secure contracts to supply Whole Foods Market and Planet Organic in London. The team hopes to employ more staff in the future as sales continue to grow.

Chief executive of HEFF, Karen Davies MBE, comments: “Purition has enjoyed phenomenal success since its launch earlier this year and we’re delighted to see it enter the next phase of its growth by taking advantage of the first class facilities on offer at the Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre.”
