The brewery’s bottled Oracle was judged Champion Beer in the Bottled Golden Ale Category. It was one of just a handful of beers to win a national award, from around 1,400 that entered the initial stages of the competition. Not only did Salopian Brewery pick up a gold medal it also received a bronze for its bottled Darwin’s Origin and a silver for its cask Golden Thread.

Wilf Nelson says, “We are very proud of our beers and delighted to win these Awards, ahead of some of the finest brewers in the country. The brewery has now received 8 awards at the SIBA national finals in the past two years and I hope these awards again cement that Salopian Brewery is brewing some of the best and most consistent beers in the country. We’re grateful to everyone at our brewery, and to the many people locally who have helped us to brew great beer. We promise to continue doing so for many more years, and hope that this Award will help us to bring our beers to many more people.”

SIBA chief executive Julian Grocock, said, “The number of smaller brewers has grown rapidly over recent years, so there are clearly more beers competing for the top prizes. To progress to the national finals is impressive in itself, and to then come through to win three national awards is a real achievement. Our hearty congratulations go to Salopian Brewery.
