Bridgnorth Golf Club were pleased to welcome guests from 16 different Clubs for Ladies Invitation Day.
It is always a popular occasion and this year saw visitors travelling from as far afield as Chapel-en-le-Frith (Derbyshire), Greetham Valley (Leics), Barlaston (Staffs), and Sutton Coldfield. In total 46 ladies took part in the 4 Ball Better Ball Stableford competition followed by drinks and an excellent meal.
This year’s event Organiser was Ladies Comps Secretary, Carrie Lees, who thanked the Greens Staff for keeping the course in beautiful condition – many comments were heard about the speed of the greens!
Thanks also go to the helpers on the check-in desk Linda Turner & Dawn Bethell, to Bobby Darley for the beautiful flowers, to the bar and catering team who were kept busy looking after everyone, and finally to Club Pro, Steve Russell and his assistant Mike.
Lady Captain, Susan Huxley, was also very appreciative of the support which raised £90 in aid of her charity Winston’s Wish.
1st Congratulations to the five pairs of prize winners who received M&S vouchers, the clear winners – with an untouchable score of 50 points – being identical twins Vanessa Statham and Alison Yates.

There were 4 twos – S Huxley (9th), V Davies, Llanymynech (14th), V Collins (14th), and I Elston (14th).
After the game, Vanessa said: “I always look forward to inviting Alison down for our invitation. We had one of those days when everything went well. After 22 pts on the front 9 we were hopeful of getting a score in the 40s but our back 9 was unbelievable scoring 3pts on 8 holes and Alison’s great birdie on 17th giving us 4 pts to make 28 pts. A memorable day for us both.”
Alison’s commented: “I always enjoy coming to Bridgnorth Golf Club to play in the Ladies Invitation with my twin sister Vanessa. We had an amazing day. Everything seemed to gel for us on the course today and we would also like to thank our playing partners Irene Elston & Jan Roberts for keeping us motivated.”
