Shropshire tennis player Jordan Evans insists he’s thrilled by the success of his 24-hour Tennisathon after playing through day and night at Bridgnorth Tennis Club.
Jordan, a member of the county men’s tennis team, was delighted to raise a total of £842.50 for Prostate Cancer UK.
The 20-year-old from Bridgnorth, who is studying for a degree in sports management at the Shrewsbury campus of the University of Chester, was supported by a host of family and friends throughout his 24-hour challenge last weekend.
He is now preparing for part two of his charity challenge when he will be joined by his mum Sharon to run the London Marathon on April 26.
Jordan, a part-time lifeguard at Bridgnorth Leisure Centre, said: “The event was a great achievement for myself and provided the opportunity to raise funds for a charity which means a lot to me and my family.
“I’m delighted, thrilled and excited by the total we raised over the 24-hour period.
“It’s an outstanding sum of money and it will all be going to Prostate Cancer UK to aid research and development to help change the lives of men across the UK.”
Jordan, who is also part of the coaching team at Bridgnorth Tennis Club, added: “The money was raised by people who supported and helped me achieve the goal of playing tennis for a 24-hour period.
“Thank you to everyone who sponsored me, had a go at the raffle, took on the bin of balls challenge, or enjoyed some of the delicious cakes and treats that were on offer.”
