Bridgnorth Golf Club Ladies won the county scratch league in 2018 so were keen to retain the Anne Jarvis Trophy for a second year running.
Bridgnorth were drawn in Group A and their defence started with great wins against Church Stretton G.C. winning 3-0 home and away. This was followed with solid wins against Shrewsbury G.C. winning 2-1 home and away which made them Group A winners. The winners of Groups B & C were The Shropshire G.C. and Oswestry G.C. who then play a round robin with the 2 clubs with the best results playing the final, which this year was Bridgnorth G.C. against Oswestry G.C. which was played Lillishall G. C as the chosen neutral course.
The final was played on Sunday 6 October with the first pair teeing off at 08:30.
It was a very tight match with Oswestry taking an early lead with victory for Tania Pearce defeating Helen Fowler 4&3.
The second pair saw Bridgnorth’s Imogen Huxley level the match with a 3&2 win, leaving it all down to the final match between Laura Morris and Vicky Bradbeer to decide the match.
A tight and exciting match went all the way to the 18th hole with the final putt dropping for Laura giving her the win, resulting in Bridgnorth winning the overall match 2 games to 1 and winning the Anne Jarvis Scratch League Trophy for the second year running.
