Match Preview: Shrewsbury Town V Wycombe Wanderers

Shrewsbury Town will be aiming to avoid a third straight defeat when they face out of sorts Wycombe Wanderers.

The 2-1 defeat against Plymouth Argyle has led to some fans calling for the end of Sam Ricketts’ brief tenure as boss.

The former Wolves defender has favoured shuffling his pack on a regular basis; with some fans calling for Ricketts to find his best side.

Shrewsbury are hovering above the drop zone on goal difference only; with the club a long way off from last season when they were beaten League One play-off finalists.

The home side are likely to be without defender James Bolton who has an ankle injury sustained in a gym accident.

Midfielder Romain Vincelot has a knee problem, whilst Lenell John-Lewis is a long-term absentee. Otherwise Shrewsbury have a fully fit squad to choose from.

Town have not beaten Wycombe on home soil since a 1-0 win in January 1994. They have a dreadful record against the Chairboys winning just one of the previous 22 meetings.

Wycombe’s 3-1 home loss against Accrington in midweek was their fifth loss during the previous six matches. Whilst Wycombe are in 13th place, they are only four points above the relegation places.

Gareth Ainsworth should have Dominic Gape and Anthony Stewart available after sustained knocks against Accrington.

Marcus Bean is available after serving a suspension, but former Nottingham Forest striker Nathan Tyson remains banned.
