Four matches took place after Shrewsbury Air Rifle League’s seasonal hiatus with the fifth being postponed due to illness.
Top scoring team this week were Telepost with a 178.5 as they travelled to the Cock Inn.
The home team scored a 159 with some good shooting from both teams. Roger Knight and Bob Griffiths from the Telepost squad each received a round of applause after scoring possibles, Knight with a 37 and Griffiths a 37.5.
Top shot for the Cock was youngster Rob Jones with a good 33.5. With the two points from this win, Telepost now sit joint first in the table with Halfway House, with the latter still a match in hand after the postponement this week of their battle against Maddocks.
A close match also took place in Bomere Heath as Condover visited the Red Lion, the home team shot a great 175.5 to pip the visitors excellent 171.5. Steve Williams for the Red Lion got a possible of 37 and Ian Small shot well to get a possible of 36.5 for a Condover team who remain in the top half of the table just underneath the Lion.
Battle commenced in the Harlescott Social Club between the A and B teams. The B team took the spoils of victory with a good score of 166.5 beating the “home” team’s 155.
In another close shoot at the Marchamley Club the home team scored a 169.5 against the 165.5 of the visiting Unison Club. Colin Morgan (35.5) and Laura Morgan (35) both dropped one shot each from the five zone to narrowly miss out on possibles. Great scores from Dave Ankers (35), Steve Evanson and Danni Forrester (34.5 each) saw them take the two points and give them more of a chance to climb up the table.
It could all change as we move into the next few weeks and the next eight matches.
