Tasley Garden Village is a proposal for a new garden community on the southwestern edge of Bridgnorth, which has been designed to meet the growth and development needs of the town over the next fifteen years.

Bloor Homes is leading the preparation of an outline planning application for the proposed garden community. Informed by a draft allocation in the emerging new Shropshire Local Plan, the site-wide vision is to deliver a holistic development providing up to 1,500 homes, a new two-form entry primary school, a range of community facilities, all set within extensive landscaped public open space including a new country park for Bridgnorth.

In addition to new homes and community facilities, Tasley Garden Village will also provide 14.6ha of employment land, with uses geared towards commercial office space, light industrial and agri-business.

Initial preparation work on the site was led by Taylor Wimpey, who worked closely with Shropshire Council to define the parameters for a garden community that would meet Bridgnorth’s future housing and infrastructure needs, with the site subsequently being included as a draft allocation in the emerging Shropshire Local Plan.

Midlands-based housebuilder Bloor Homes assumed control of the majority of the site in 2023 and the family-owned firm is now leading on the delivery of Tasley Garden Village. Taylor Wimpey has retained control over a smaller part of the site and continues to work in partnership with Bloor Homes.

With plans beginning to take shape, Bloor Homes and Taylor Wimpey are seeking input from the local community to help shape a unique garden village development that meets the needs of the community now and in the future.

Max Whitehead, Planning Director at Bloor Homes Midlands, said: “We are delighted to be taking this significant step forward towards the delivery of what will be a distinctive, landscape-led community with a bespoke design approach unique to the site. We are having constructive initial discussions with local town and parish councils, and we are now seeking wider community input through our initial phase of community engagement on the priorities and aspirations of local people.”

A dedicated consultation website has been launched by the Tasley Garden Village project team at tasleygardenvillage.uk and an information leaflet has been posted to residents and businesses in the wider vicinity of the proposed development.

Mr Whitehead added, “As we work towards an outline planning application in the Spring of 2025, we will be carrying out further stages of consultation. This will include local drop-in exhibitions where people can come and meet the project team. We would encourage everyone to register with our consultation website to have their say and receive updates on these future consultation events.”

Zoe Curnow, Senior Strategic Land & Planning Manager at Taylor Wimpey, added “Having worked closely with Shropshire Council and other key stakeholders as the strategic vision for Tasley Garden Village took shape, we are very pleased that a concept masterplan for the development is now emerging in partnership with Bloor Homes. We look forward to receiving feedback from the wider Bridgnorth community, which will help shape the development plans, which are centred around providing a sustainable community for residents and encouraging healthy living.

“Tasley Garden Village will deliver a range of meaningful benefits to Bridgnorth while helping Shropshire Council meet its housing and infrastructure delivery targets as set out in the emerging Local Plan.”
