The scheme employs a team of caring, well-trained Home Support Workers They carry out everyday tasks that an older person may find difficult to manage.

These might include vacuuming and dusting, bathroom and kitchen cleaning, shopping and collecting prescriptions or laundry and ironing.

Wherever possible the same support worker will visit each time to provide continuity and visits are usually undertaken in two-hour blocks.

Anyone over the age of 60 may be eligible for this service.

Following an enquiry or referral, one of the organisation’s experienced assessors will visit the person at their home to decide how best to help.

There is a charge for this service. Anyone interested is asked to telephone the offices of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin to find out more.

For further details: email enquiries@ageukstw.org.uk or telephone 01743 233 788 or visit the website.
