Local roads around the area were closed due to smoke emitting from the fire while firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service Area Manager, Janette Morris said:

“This was a large-scale incident in a commercial building, with firefighters from across Shropshire in attendance. Officers, crews and fire control staff have worked tirelessly throughout the night to ensure the Service had the right resources in place to tackle this significant blaze, and to prevent the fire spreading to adjacent units.

“Roads in the immediate vicinity have now reopened to enable local businesses to return to their premises.  We’d like to thank everyone for their patience this morning whilst we brought the fire under control.”

Appliances including the aerial ladder platform, the heavy pumping unit, the incident command unit, water carrier and welfare unit were mobilised from Albrighton, Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock, Newport, Prees, Shrewsbury, Telford, Telford Central, Tweedale and Wellington. Operations, Safety and Principal officers were also in attendance.
