Homes near Much Wenlock without power following electricity transformer fire

Around 42 homes are without power near Much Wenlock following a fire involving an electricity transformer this morning.

Firefighters were called to the incident in Bourton Westwood at around 5.20am.

The fire involved a pole mounted 11,000v electricity transformer.

Two fire appliances including the incident support unit were mobilised from Much Wenlock and Tweedale. Firefighters used a hosereel jet to put out the fire.

Western Power says they aim to restore power to affected properties by midday.
