A young Wellington sculptor who is making his name on the international stage has won a top commission.
Jacob Chandler, who is 24 and Wellington’s resident artist and sculptor, was recently presented with an award to recognise his community contribution at the town’s civic service.
He told the congregation at the service in All Saints Church that he is currently creating a three metre tall sculpture for Telford Town Centre.
To launch this there will be an exhibition of his work in the new fashion quarter of the centre from July 16th -28th July which will include free children’s workshops and talks about his process.
As well as being continuously exhibited in The Soden Collection gallery in Shrewsbury, along with great artists such as Picasso, Hockney, Licktenstein and Emin, Jacob is also at the embryonic stages of a sculpture for a public location in Rugby and will be exhibiting again this year at the prestigious Mall Galleries next to Buckingham Palace.
