A man has died after his car collided with a lorry on the A5 near Oswestry in the early hours of this morning.
The collision occurred at around 12.30am on the A5 near the junction with Gobowen.
The man in his 30s was confirmed dead at the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews discovered a car and a lorry that had been in collision.
“There was one sole occupant in the car, a man. Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
“The lorry driver was uninjured in the incident.”
The lorry caught fire following the collision with firefighters using three hose reel jets to put out the fire.
