A signalling fault has blocked the railway line between Shrewsbury and Gobowen.
Passengers have been facing delays to travel all morning. The first service affected was the 5.35am service between Chester and Birmingham International.
Road transport is in operation between Shrewsbury and Chester calling all stations in both directions
Transport for Wales says that disruption is expected until around 12.30pm.
