Police seek victim of assault in Shrewsbury

Police are appealing for witnesses or information to locate a victim, following an incident in Shrewsbury in the early hours of this morning.

At around 12.35am, it is reported a man was assaulted near to the Woodman pub on Coton Hill.

Police say it’s believed a crutch was used during the assault and the suspect may have also been in possession of a bladed object.

The victim left the scene on foot and has not been located since. He is described as a man in his 20s or 30s, with long dark hair, wearing a light-coloured coat. He may have been using a crutch.

A 32-year-old man from Shrewsbury has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault. He is currently in police custody.

Investigating officer, DI Scott Harris from West Mercia Police said: “A number of enquiries are ongoing but at this stage, the victim has not been identified or located and we would like to speak to him to check he is safe and well.

“If anyone witnessed the incident or has any information which may assist with our enquiries, please get in contact.”

Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident reference 12s of 5 March 2019.
