New water pipes for Bishops Castle

Severn Trent starts work next month to replace four miles worth of water pipes in the Bishop Castle area.

But before work begins in August, the company wants to invite local residents to a drop-in session to hear more about the plans.

Gareth Mead, from Severn Trent, comments: “To make sure the water pipes in the Bishop Castle area of Shropshire continue to serve the community for years to come, we need to replace the old water pipes with more reliable ones.

“This work is part of a £700,000 investment we’re making and we’re keen to tell the local community about our plans. We’re holding a public exhibition on Thursday 28 July 2016 in Teme Sparc Leisure Centre, Brampton Road, Bishops Castle, SY9 5AY between 4pm-7pm. We’d encourage local people to come along, meet the team and learn more about our work, but to also give their views – after all, the people who know the area best are the local residents.”

Severn Trent confirmed that work will begin in late August in Brampton Road (B4385) on the outskirts of Bishops Castle, working towards Lydbury North. In order to keep everyone safe, the water company will need to use traffic lights and a 10 mile an hour convoy system, but more information about this will be available at the drop-in session.

Gareth added: “We know that this work could cause some inconvenience and closing roads may cause disruption for the local community, and we’d like to apologise to anyone who will be affected, and to ask for their patience. This work will help us to keep the water running for our customers for many years to come.”
